About Ziff Davis

Ziff Davis B2B offered customers unparalleled access to the world’s most active and influential technology buyers. A global marketplace that connected the technology industry by providing tools and insights that IT buyers needed, Ziff Davis was the global market leader in demand generation through omnichannel marketing, trusted by the world’s leading technology brands to make better decisions that drive revenue.

Focussed on helping marketing and sales teams optimise their marketing ROI, outperform competitors and gain market share, Ziff Davis B2B offered its clients a robust community of technology buyers and extensive expertise in modern marketing strategies. With access to trusted first-party data and visibility into high-value buying signals, the company was uniquely positioned to help drive growth while reducing the complexity of customer engagement, acquisition and retention.

The Challenge

ZD B2B needed consistently updated and relevant content related to the many categories and sub-categories its audiences were seeking through the company’s site and newsletters. With such a diverse array of topics covered across ZD’s footprint, though, producing high-value content on a regular basis that would engage its audiences and generate leads was no small task. ZD also understood that the expertise required to find, feature and organise this type of content required a level of skill beyond in-house capability, and that it could operate more efficiently through partnership.

The Solution

After its experience with other external content providers, ZD chose VitalBriefing for the specific skillsets, level of service and attention to detail that outclassed competitors. The content became the core of ZD’s main B2B content website, Toolbox.com. Those articles were regularly utilised in e-mail newsletters and other settings, including after it acquired another company, Spiceworks, in 2019.

The partnership saw VitalBriefing become ZD’s “virtual outsource newsroom,” producing more than 60 stories a month and operating every element in the content production process, from identifying stories to writing, editing and delivering them seamlessly and ready-to-publish directly into ZD’s content management system.

ROI, Benefits and Results

The content VitalBriefing provided gave ZD editorial credibility and demonstrated a level of expertise and thought leadership across dozens of categories in which their clients were most focused. VB’s reliability of delivery, paired with its focus on customer care, shaped a highly-valued production process for ZD, ensuring articles they trusted to be of the highest quality. ZD regularly showcased this content in its business-critical newsletters and sales pitches and, ultimately, through its audience and engagement metrics. It is that commitment to quality that led the former EVP and GM of Spiceworks Ziff Davis to call VitalBriefing’s service and value “unsurpassed in the B2B Tech Media content space.”
